Licences, Attributions & Disclaimers

Last updated June 30, 2026

HealthAtoms teaches and references industry standards and clinical terminologies. Those standards remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their licences. This page carries the attributions those licences require, and the disclaimers that govern how our educational content may be used.

Educational use — not medical advice

All content on HealthAtoms is provided for professional education only. It is not medical, clinical, legal, or financial advice, creates no professional relationship, and must never be used to make decisions about the care of a real patient. Always rely on current local guidelines, applicable regulation, and qualified professional judgement.

Synthetic data only

Every patient example, identifier, and scenario on the Platform is synthetic — invented for teaching. No real patient information appears anywhere on HealthAtoms, and the Platform must not be used to store or process real health data.

Coding examples are for learning, not billing

Code examples (diagnoses, procedures, lab observations, units) are shown to teach concepts. They are not a substitute for the official, licensed releases of each code system, and must not be used for live clinical coding, billing, or claims without verification against the current authoritative source.

AI-assisted answers (Vaidya)

Where HealthAtoms offers AI-generated guidance (our Vaidya mentor), answers are generated from our knowledge base and may be incomplete or incorrect — always verify against the cited sources. Questions you submit may be processed by a third-party AI provider to generate a response.

Concepts shown on HealthAtoms are a small illustrative teaching subset of the SNOMED CT International Edition; the platform provides no bulk export or download of SNOMED CT content.

SNOMED CT descriptions are shown in the original English. The Affiliate Licence does not permit translation without prior written consent, so SNOMED CT content is not translated on HealthAtoms.

ICD (World Health Organization)

ICD-10 and ICD-11 are the International Classification of Diseases, © World Health Organization (WHO), made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 3.0 IGO licence (CC BY-ND 3.0 IGO).

International Classification of Diseases, Eleventh Revision (ICD-11), World Health Organization (WHO) 2019 — https://icd.who.int/browse11. Licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 3.0 IGO licence (CC BY-ND 3.0 IGO).

Under the NoDerivatives term, WHO code titles are reproduced unaltered and are not translated by HealthAtoms; translations and crosswalks between ICD and other classifications fall outside this licence and require a separate written agreement with WHO. Any explanation, simplification or teaching note alongside a code is HealthAtoms' own and does not originate from WHO. ICD codes shown here are illustrative and for education only — not for diagnosis, coding, or billing. HealthAtoms is not affiliated with, and is not endorsed by, WHO.

CPT (American Medical Association)

CPT® (Current Procedural Terminology) is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association (AMA), © AMA. HealthAtoms references CPT only descriptively — explaining what it is and where it sits in medical coding — and does not reproduce CPT codes or their descriptors. We will not display CPT content until an appropriate AMA licence is in place.

DICOM (NEMA)

DICOM® is the registered trademark of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for its Standards publications relating to digital communications of medical information. The DICOM Standard is © NEMA. HealthAtoms teaches DICOM concepts and generates synthetic DICOM examples; it does not reproduce the DICOM Standard itself.

RxNorm (US National Library of Medicine)

This product uses publicly available data courtesy of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services; NLM is not responsible for the product and does not endorse or recommend this or any other product.

RxNorm normalized names and RXCUIs are US Government work in the public domain. Any RxNorm content shown here is an illustrative teaching subset and is not NLM’s most current data.

UCUM (Regenstrief)

The Unified Code for Units of Measure (UCUM), also known as the “UCUM Specification”, is copyright © 1999-2024, Regenstrief Institute, Inc. UCUM is used under the UCUM Copyright Notice and License (https://ucum.org/license), which provides the work on an “AS IS” basis, without warranties or conditions of any kind. UCUM unit codes are reproduced unaltered.
